If the hummingbird is in the sunlight I can’t freeze the wings. And so as this little guy basks in the sunlight this photograph gives you an example of just how fast their wings are really beating. The wings can beat up to 80 times per second which requires an enormous amount of energy. The wings move in a figure 8, or the sign of infinity.
