I don’t usually photograph hummingbirds in the sunlight, as all the ambient light makes it hard to “freeze” the wings. However, this striking Anna’s Hummingbird has an intense iridescence of his gorget and his wings are perfectly captured. It all depends on how the light strikes the throat and head as to what colors we will see. The background is one of the many-colored muslin backgrounds I hang before photographing these exceptional little birds. He just seems so graceful.
